Do you feel tired all the time or are you one of those people who tend to make laziness as an excuse for skipping your workout sessions? Do you see yourself as a couch potato or you just don’t feel like doing anything all day? Well, if you can relate to such situations, then it’s high time you should start doing something about that.

Today, we give you five essential bodyweight exercises that can be incorporated in your daily routine to help you in rejuvenating and improving your lifestyle.

Squats:

‘Even though it is a leg exercise, it involves complete body movement’

It is a compound bodyweight exercise and one of the most essential ones you’ll be required to do in your daily routine. By compound exercise, we mean that it engages a lot of your muscles which includes your lower abdominals, your thighs, hamstrings, calves, hips etc.

Once you master squats, you should try performing different variations, including the jump squats, one legged squats and the dreaded front squat.

Push-ups:

‘Get down and give me 20’

In my opinion, the exercise called as the ‘push up’ is the best of all body weight exercises. Most of the people start of their fitness journey through this particular exercise. It is one of those exercises which should be an integral part of your daily routine. It is an excellent exercise to make that chest and those triceps pop out. Set short-term goals for this exercise whilst performing and you’ll see exemplary results.

Once you get the hold of it, you can different variations like diamond push-ups, wide hand placement push-ups, single handed push-ups etc.

Crunches:

‘Crunch it, like you mean it’

Well, by crunch we are referring to a body exercise, and not a food munching activity. Crunches are one of the most easily done exercises, which can be done with the support of your own body weight. Through this particular activity, you can shape and burn that awful unwanted fat of your belly. It helps in strengthening your abdominal muscles.

When you are able to perform a ‘normal crunch’ on a regular basis, challenge yourself and try variations like bicycle crunches.

Mountain Climbers:

‘Once you do it properly, you will actually feel like climbing a mountain’

The next exercise on the list is ‘mountain climbers.’  Just like a squat, it is also enlisted in the category of compound exercises. It is a great activity as far as doing cardio is concerned. It is one of the best core exercises. It involves the abdominal stabilization, as well as driving your knees up towards your chest, to burn off that fat. Since your main support is coming from your wrists and shoulders, their stability is also essential for proper results.

Burpees

With the combination of cardio and strength building, burpees have a prestigious place when it comes to the list of bodyweight exercises. It not only works your upper body, but also helps the lower body to get toned and chiseled. To make it more interesting and hard, add a tuck jump or a jump squat in between a burpee.
