He gained and lost 10 kg in a matter of weeks for his movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag! Here is how he did it.
Farhan Akhtar is one of the most multi-talented stars of Bollywood. Despite being a writer, composer, lyricist, director and actor, he now also has the physique of a super athlete. There is no doubt about his dedication to his work, especially his performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He not only had to change his entire life style, he literally had to work his backside off and push his body to the limits to achieve the physical look he needed to have to play the part of Milkha Singh.
Farhan began his workout in November of 2011. The first thing that he was asked to do was changing his lifestyle and lives in a more disciplined way. Farhan had to give up on the late night parties, alcohol and smoking. He had to go to bed by 10 pm and wake up early in the morning by 5 am.
His diet plan was composed of 6 to 7 meals throughout the day. Farhan had to refrain from fats and sugars. However, to keep a balanced diet, all his meals had to provide a source of protein, vegetables and some carbs. The main source of carbohydrates was fruits and vegetables. He refrained from chapattis, bread and rice entirely.
However, as important as diet is, to achieve the look he had, he had to work with two different physical trainers, and undergo various weight, cardio and resistance training plans. He would work out six hours a day, with two hour intervals in between.
As a method actor, Farhan has out done himself in preparing for this role, and this is probably going to be one of his most memorable performances. Nevertheless, just because he is a celebrity isn’t the reason he managed to pull this off. With the right amount of dedication, consistency, and endurance, anyone can do this.
